Are there any "warning signs" to stay away from a church?

I think the short answer here is to look at the fruits. If the church does not give back to the community, that's sort of a pharisee-type thing. There are many many churches out there that do good. Christ is our example, and He came as a servant (your matt. 23 citation). So should we be. Not judging others, but serving.
