Forcefully Taking control of a Forum, Can i get in trouble?

Kind of a nedry question but, here is the thing. Im on of a few Moderators of a popular online forum, and me and another person were in competition to become head Moderater because the site owner did not have enough time. Now the other gy became head mod, but he is doing a horrible Job, me and a couple of my friends have Admin acess so were thinking of staging a Coup de'tat and taking away all powers from the Head Mod and his team. Now the Site Admin will not be able to do anything about this because Ill release him of his power to, the only way he will be able to stop this is if he deletes the entire site and restarts it, which he wont do because there is to much Data. Now my question is, Legaly can I get into trouble for doing this?
