What can I replace my drought resistant plants with?

Only 2 years ago I replaced my garden plants with drought resistant ones as recommended by green livng/climate change experts as it has been cold and wet for 2 summers solid, I was wondering whether it would be worth wasting energy effort and increasing my carbon footprint even more by changing them to whatever notion they are trying to sell this year.
