How can I stop being so cynical, and too serious about everything? ?

It's going to probably happen like this, Grumps: He's going to say he'd never make any kinds of gestures towards you, then in the next breath he'll be right back at it. There's another grumpy co-worker of mine who couldn't see the bright side of the sun at five paces, and I've told her repeatedly the same type of things. Yet, the very next day I'm back at it trying to get her to look at least occasionally on the brighter side. She's coming around a bit. Why do we do this? Because even as you are now, he still sees something in you that transcends your grumpy persona, and it's endearing to him. It genuinely shocked her that we all got her presents at Christmas time, and yesterday she actually showed me photos of her parents...(that's a big step for her). So, just be yourself. We're all works in progress...somethings we change about ourselves; somethings others extract out of us. He cares enough to try, and you care that he cares, so let things evolve as they will. Happy New Year.
